OMBRE BLOSSOMS

A Little of This and a Little of That!
How about a cute way to put those orphan blocks to use?! I've seen some pretty terrific stockings that are a hodgepodge of leftover orphan blocks and scraps of all kinds. This week, I thought I would try one myself since I have no shortage of scraps! Haha! It was a really fun process, and I thought I would share my own twist with added dimensional bits tucked in here and there. I decided to do this in a quilt-as-you-go style to eliminate the need for quilting it once it was

These are a Few of my Favorite Things!
Can you believe Christmas is less than two weeks away!? Oh my goodness, how is that even possible??? With all the busyness that’s sure to dominate the next couple of weeks, I thought it would be fun to put together a quilter's stocking stuffer idea list! You can share this with your loved ones when they are wondering what to get you for Christmas. I’m sure you could add to this list, but these are some things that came to my mind and would make great, smaller gifts! Phone tab

Santa Baby!
Need a quick, super-cute new idea?! Just this week, I worked up this little table runner using only three fabrics, and I couldn’t be happier with the results! I used a technique called fussy cutting to get these little Santas in the middle of each diamond. Then I cut matching triangles from striped fabric! That is pretty much all it is :) Once it was cut, I had the whole thing sewn in 37 min… haha! That’s right, less than an hour. I filmed a new YouTube video to show you the

Two Big Things 2025 Edition!
This week is a little different. It's a busy holiday week, and we have two big things happening. First, we are having our biggest sale of the year! All patterns, classes, kits, and tools are 25% off (in-stock items only) in the store through Cyber Monday (Dec. 1st) at 11:00 PM PST. There's a lot to be thankful for, and we are very grateful for your encouragement and support of this small business :) The second is near and dear to my heart! This is the seventh year I'm doing

How to Bind a Hexagon
I received an email asking if I’d ever done a blog about binding hexagons? Hmmm, now that you mention it, that would make a great blog :) And, I hadn’t even thought of it! So, I whipped up this little table center mat out of an orphan block from Vintage Windmill and cut some binding strips. Mark ¼” dots in all the corners. I sewed my binding to the back, then wrapped it to the front to topstitch, and marked my dots on the back. (You could do the same process from the front. )

Crimson Christmas Scraps!
Well, would you look at that?! This week, I took inspiration from an older project and made a new poinsettia pillow using scraps left over from Crimson Christmas! Below is the original blog post and pillow I made in sweet spring pinks. I followed the same process, only this time in Christmas colors, and I am in love with it!! It’s time to change out the snowflake throw pillows in my living room, now that we are well into spring, haha! This week, I had the idea to make a 3D fl

No Scrap Left Behind…Binding
Here’s a way to use up every last scrap strip, no matter how wide it is! I made another batch of baby quilts with random odds and ends I had leftover from other projects. I have the hardest time throwing away odd-sized strips. .. you know the ones left at the end of your yardage once you’ve cut all your 2½” strips (or whatever size you cut). There’s always something left over. Most of the time, it’s only about 1½” - 2”… not really enough to do anything with, right :) Well,

Winter Visit is Here!!
Are you ready for a Winter Visit?! This is my latest pattern, and it's so much fun to make! These little Christmas wreaths go together quickly, and they can use up all kinds of scraps or stash. I've wanted to do a cardinal bird in a quilt for a while, so this worked out perfectly. This week, we filmed a new YouTube video where I walk through the cutting and assembly process for the wreath blocks. I also talk about the final assembly process once you have all the blocks done.

Weekend Wool Warrior
It's about that time of year when we start thinking about quick little gift projects to make in a flash! How about a super easy wool-felt zip pouch for quilting essentials or a shave kit pouch for the guys? I've been working on some project ideas using wool felt, and I thought I would share one because it came out sooo cute! First, I cut an 11” wide x 12” long rectangle of wool felt (this stuff is stiff enough to hold its shape, but not hard to sew through). I used 3mm 100% w

A Web of Scraps!
Welp, another pile of scraps has found a home! I actually can’t believe I saved some of these, and yet, I am so happy I did! I scrounged around my scrap piles, pulling out all of my off-sized white-ish strips. These strips are all odd lengths and odd widths, with most being under 2” wide. I also found a whole pile of 1” black strips…. Why did I save those?! I probably just couldn’t bring myself to throw them out! I decided to create random strip sets, alternating between whit
