OMBRE BLOSSOMS

Solo Star ;)
It’s not a Lone Star block, because it has six points instead of eight, but it is a Solo star! I was tinkering with a block idea this week. One that would use up more scraps and could be made with leftover 2½” strips. I love the way it came out! This block could be sized up or down depending on how big you want to make it. I cut a bunch of 2½” diamonds from leftover neutral strips. I save everything! I have a lot of favorite little stripes and graphic prints that I use to th

Grandmother's Flower Pillow
Have you ever wanted to make a Grandmother's Flower Garden, but couldn’t bring yourself to piece all those hexies by hand? Well, you are going to love this method! I can appreciate the work that went into vintage quilts, and I love the look of Grandmother’s Flower Garden, but I just can’t make the time to do one by hand. Missing The Point
Does this situation look familiar? "Oh points wherefore art thou?!" Cutting the points off your quilt blocks is one of the most frustrating experiences, even for seasoned quilters. I thought I would reverse-engineer this problem so you could see how to avoid it. All blocks with points involve at least three seams. I labeled the seams in order of assembly here. When the points get cut off, it is easy to assume that seam 3 is the culprit… but that is seldom the case! It all sta

Where Would We Be?!
This week, March 21st, we celebrated my favorite pastime with National Quilting Day. The invention of the sewing machine changed piecing and quilting as we knew it. You have to marvel at this amazing little machine that completely changed history! When you walk into your sewing room, do you ever think about how it was before we had sewing machines? Crystal King, our resident historian, takes us on a journey through sewing machine history. I know you'll enjoy this :) The White
