Color Play

Updated: Jul 6, 2022

Do you want to see what I've been working on lately? I thought so :)

I am SUPER excited about this next quilt! It’s a block of the month, and the pattern will be out very very soon! But, I can’t show you all that just yet…. so, until I can do the full blown reveal, I thought I would show you a little of my fabric planning process.

I was originally trying out different color wheel-ish layouts; this was one of my first coloring sheets. I grabbed a few little bits of fabric in colors I liked, and used those as my original pallet.

Then, I went fabric shopping and this is what I came home with! Pretty, huh?! For this quilt, I wanted to have a good variety of different shades in each colorway. I meant to get six to seven shades, but as you can see I got a little carried away.

I rarely have a set in stone plan for where each fabric is going, so I tend to just get a range within each colorway. As you can see, I pulled everything from light to dark in each color. I think it is important to have a super light and a super dark (they may never appear side by side) so the quilt has that glittering look when the colors play off each other.

And, here is what I did with all those colors! This is a sneak peak of what is coming. I am sooooo over the moon about this quilt and all the different blocks. By this time next week, I will have much more to show you!

Ready to plan your next quilt’s colors? I hope this gave you a little pep in your step.

Happy Sunday, everyone!

Krista
